Beskrivelse

A beautiful bedspread / blanket in an exotic printed pattern of birds, flowers and ranks. It is completely handmade by two layers of cotton fabric, one side in lovely shades of blue and the other side in single-colored white. It is also decorated with an ancient Kantha technique where dotted lines of stitches extend over the entire bedspread. You spend almost a month making such Kantha work bedspreads and blankets. The stitches in the embroidery are made in white, light yellow, pink and blue thread.

Kantha work is a traditional family tradition of embroidery art, which is continued from mother to daughter and originates from north-eastern regions of India. Old saris, dhotis and similar garments are sewn together and embroidered with running stitches to make lightweight bedspreads and blankets. Some minor imperfections in embroidery patterns are characteristic of such fully handcrafted textiles. Every article is unique and there is no other completely alike.
