A beautiful hand – embroidered cushion cover with a printed pattern of exotic birds, flowers and ranks. 100% organic cotton. Handmade in Rajasthan, India.

Kantha work – decorated with running stitches of white, pink and blue cotton threads on the front. The back is solid white.

Hidden zipper on the back of the cushion cover.

The cushion has an embroidered label with ValeriaS.no – writing in gold thread on a light pink background.

Hand wash or gentle machine wash with “Hand wash / Silk” program.

Beskrivelse

A cushion that is elegant and advanced with its multifarious details. The pattern resembles the motifs of ancient Chinese ginger jars and Blue Willow – porcelain. The front is handmade of two layers of cotton fabric, the top and visible layer in gorgeous shades of blue. The back is solid white. The cushion cover is also decorated with an ancient Kantha technique where dotted lines of stitches extend across the front.

Kantha work is a traditional family tradition of embroidery art, which is continued from mother to daughter and originates from north-eastern regions of India. Old saris, dhotis and similar garments are sewn together and embroidered with running stitches to make lightweight bedspreads, blankets and cushions. Some minor irregularities in embroidery patterns are characteristic of such handmade fabrics. Every article is unique and there is no other completely alike.
